#8Sunday: From Terran…angry words…

Is it Sunday again? Yes, it is, and it’s time for another eight sentences from Terran, the second book in the Breeder sci-fi romance series. Thank goodness for semi colons and dashes. I was able to squeeze 12 sentences into eight! This scene is between Tara and her kidnapper following a little row…

CB_Terran_coverlg“I don’t hate you,” she said in a low voice.

“You said you did.”

“I didn’t mean it; I was mad.”

“I was too, but I do not say things I do not mean when I am angry.”

She twisted her mouth in disbelief.

He shook his head. “I cannot afford the luxury of inconsistency –my word is law. If I said something I did not mean, my false words would be obeyed.

After fleeing heartache on Terra, Tara Diehl has adjusted to male-dominated Parseon better than most vendors until she is kidnapped by Alpha Marlix, a ruling commander. At first her tall, muscled abductor terrifies her, especially when he doesn’t hesitate to quell her struggle for freedom with some force. When her attempts to escape fail, she decides to seduce her way to freedom.

But out of seduction and subterfuge grow a true intimacy that cause Marlix and Tara to take action that drives Parseon to the brink of civil war, threatening not only their relationship, but also their lives.

Terran, the second book in the Breeder sci-fi series, is a “capture” romance involving a domineering but hunky alien, a female with a bad dye job and an even worse attitude.  All Breeder books can be read as stand-alones.

  1. I realize he is a ruler so I guess his attitude is not out of line, but wow, what ego! LOL. It sounds as if she has him a little befuddled? This shows a lot about their relationship. Good 8.

  2. He just needs to accept that just because HE can’t afford to speak false words doesn’t mean others can’t. ;D

    Great dialogue!

  3. Eleri Stone says:

  4. S.J. Maylee says:

I remember being blown away by this and how it showed me a harsh truth of his reality. I also remember thinking how he really needed Tara in his life. Aw! Love how they compliment each other. 🙂 Fab snippet, Cara.

Great tension in the dialogue. Yet, another intriguing moment between them.

  8. Gem Sivad says:

What a difficult standard he’s set for himself and so hard for her to understand. Loved this story.

  9. I love this scene and I think the dialog really points out the differences between them. Just an excellent series, can’t wait for the next book! Terrific snippet…

He has a point! Great snippet, I love this description ‘She twisted her mouth in disbelief.’
    so visual.

  11. Caitlin says:

He might have been raised that way, but she wasn’t. Another great example of a cultural and personality clash!
