When inserting a photo into a blog, WordPress gives the option of thumbnail, medium, or full size. The problem is that medium often appears too small while full size is punch-you-in-the-face large.
Recently I discovered that I can scale a photo, adjust the size incrementally and proportionately! I don’t know if this is a new feature with WordPress that came with a recent update, or if it’s been there all along and I just noticed. But, it’s very cool.
(Caveats: My blog uses WordPress.org software. I don’t know if this works on WordPress.com. It might. Try it.)
How to scale a photo
Step one: Insert your photo into your draft blog like normal.
Step two: Click on the photo to get the edit symbol (the pen on the left). Click on the pen.
Step four: Click on the size pull down menu and select “custom.”
Step five: Click on the little arrows and adjust the size up or down.
Voila! Proceed as usual.

Remember the 1000th blog prize drawing. This blog is my 989th one. Only 11 more posts until I hit No. 1000. When I do, I’ll award a $10 Amazon gift card to someone who has commented between Nov. 10 (when I first announced the drawing) and blog No. 999. Each day that you comment on a blog earns you one entry into the drawing. So, don’t be shy. The winner could be you!
