#PetsInSpace author Michelle Howard reveals her ‘minimalist’ office…#AuthorsInSpace

By Michelle Howard

Here’s where I make the magic. Not much right? LOL. I wish I could share an ideal office oasis with everyone but the reality is my laptop is my office. I move around the house and decide where I want to set up then park my butt and write.

Some spots are better than others like my kitchen island but with fall making its way, I’m more often than not lounging on the floor with my music and a beverage of the moment. Of course since school is back in session it also means the family pet follows me wherever I go. I’m not even going to call her my writing partner because she ditches me when the little ones get home. LOL.

My work process is a bit chaotic. I always have several projects going on and tend to alternate working on two at the same time. It’s my way of staying focused in case I get stumped with one. When I’m on an editing deadline, I grab my earphones, load my favorite playlist and get to work. It’s the only time my kids recognize as a “hesitate to enter zone”. It means I want to kinda hear and see everything going on but I can only be disturbed in bursts. Unless the George Foreman grill breaks. I need to know that right away because I live off of grilled food year round. LOL

She loves paranormal and contemporary romances and is a fan of the classic romances by Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood. I love to hear from fans so please reach out to me. Michelle Howard is the author of Wired for Love, in the anthology Embrace the Romance, Pets in Space 2.

Wired for Love blurb

Hunter Gils has put his past in the military behind him. Now his focus is on his bar and the less than savory clientele. Life is perfect – except for a gray-eyed beauty who refuses his advances.

Narelle Bindu wasn’t immune to the tall, dark stranger working at The Zone. He wanted her – and she wanted him. The only drawback was she didn’t have room in her life for a man, not even one as tempting as Hunter.

When a deadly attack creates the perfect opening for an old enemy, the two lovers must work together to survive. What they never expect is to find an ally willing to help them – even if that help has four legs. Can their four-legged friend keep Hunter and Narelle alive long enough to find out that one night would never be enough?

  1. Lisa Medley says:

Definitely less cumbersome! I’m written most of my WIP on my iPad in a variety of places, although, I do have a fantastic work space. Writing on the fly has been freeing. The first book In wrote mostly in a notebook and transcribed and embellished at night. Good work!

  2. When looking at our top 10 best wireless headphones table. How to choose the best wireless headphones?

  3. Very cool! I didn’t get a laptop until later in my writing, so got too used to having a desk and a fixed place to write. Write on for sure!

    • Cara Bristol says:

I started with a desktop too. I was resistant to getting a laptop, but my husband kept urging me. “You can write when we travel.” Ha. Ha. I’ll bet he regrets those words now! I love my laptop. However, I do use at a desktop computer….

  4. Love that your office is anywhere you want to put it that day, and I’m amazed you can work on two or more WIPs at once. You’re quite a multi-tasker! (BTW, your occasional writing companion is a cutie!)

  5. Thanks all! Special thanks to Cara for such a great segment. I’ve been reading all of them and love seeing how people write. I wrote by long hand for the first 2 yrs, got tired of transcribing and then used a defunct cast off laptop before DHbought me a new one.

  6. Susan says:

I’m moving into your empty space! I love how you can be so creative, working on several projects and finding the right spot to create. Your support team is also awesome. Nothing like a nice rub or a puppy kiss to let you know you are doing a fantastic job! <3

  7. Having a portable office definitely makes things much easier. 🙂
