Freebie Friday: win a toy for your dog or cat #Scifirom #PetsInSpace #FreebieFriday

*  * UPDATE *  *

The Freebie Friday drawing is now closed, and the winners have been selected.

The winner of the dog toy is Sharon Extine and the winner of the cat toy is Louise Haring. Congrats, ladies!

Thank you everyone who answered the question and entered the drawing. Freebie Friday is always the fourth Friday of the month on carabristol.com. The next one will be November 24 — the day after Thanksgiving. I don’t know what I’ll give away, probably a book or some swag.

This month’s Freebie Friday prize drawing is all about pets!  Answer a pet question to enter the drawing for a dog toy or a cat toy.

I’m dedicating this post to the USA Today Bestseller Embrace the Romance: Pets in Space 2, an anthology of 12 science fiction romances, each one featuring a pet sidekick (Disclosure: I’m one of the authors).

To enter to win a pet toy answer the question below. Also, tell me whether you would want the dog toy (the big one) or the cat toy (the little one). Please don’t say either one; please pick your preference. Two winners by random draw will be selected, one for the squeaky dog toy and one for the “bouncy” cat toy.

Be sure to leave your email address either in the sign-in box or in the comments so I can contact you if you win. I will ship internationally.

You have until Sunday evening, October 29 to enter the drawing. The winner will be selected and notified Monday morning.

And the question is:

If you went to outer space and could bring an animal, what kind would you take?

(Note: “space” can be a spaceship, a space station or another planet, however you want to define it)

Freebie Friday is held on the fourth Friday of the month on carabristol.com. Each month I have a different question and a different prize.

  1. Deonna Rae Bishopp says:

I’d definitely take my pets with me to space!

  2. Leisha Lockwood says:

I would take my beautiful boy Rommel. A working line german shepherd. Loyalty, courage, strength, intelligence, unconditional love and will protect me always – even before his own well being. I swear he talks and only needs his language updated into a translation device for me to understand him. I would do anything for my boy and I know he would go above and beyond for me.

    • Cindy Rampmeyer says:

Leisha, I completely understand. I have a male, 155 pound Rottweiler with the same characteristics. He is my best friend and would do whatever it takes to ensure my health and protection. I would do the same for him.

  3. Mary Preston says:

I think I would take a nanny goat. I’d have milk to make cheese, they are fun and (Gulp) I could always eat her.

    The cat toy thanks.

  4. Cindy Rampmeyer says:

I would take my beloved Rottweiler, Odin, with me. He is 155 pounds of love and protection. I’ve had at least one Rottweiler for all of my adult life (40+ years or so) and honestly couldn’t imagine my life without one. Someone said to me a couple years ago when I got Odin, “aren’t you getting too old for such a big dog?”. I told them that when I move to a nursing home one day, it better be one that accepts dogs. LOL.

I would like the dog toy, please. Odin would like that.

  5. Jo jones says:

A cat. They are soft and cuddly but would all those hidden places on a ship or station. A cat toy. My cat would love for me to win. jonesjnd at yahoo dot com

  6. Shan Shwe says:

Can only be a cat. A cat wouldn’t be phased out about free fall or aliens as we’re all aliens to them.

  7. Elize van der Merwe says:

We have too many pets for me to take all to space, and I won’t be able to choose just one. I won’t go to space permanently either, therefore may I opt to get one of the Stardogs (hope they manage to create another one) from Pets in Space 2. Or even better: a sentient Great Eagle! He would love the open spaces here in South Africa. Saving the species and all.
A cat toy would be lovely thanks.

  8. Caitlin Kaspetrus says:

I would bring my dog Ludo! That way we could explore the universe together and have a bunch of awesome adventures! He’s a Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix so he’s pretty compact, and would fit just about anywhere! Great for travel, especially in space! Our first stop would have to be Saturn, travel around the rings and moons since it’s my favorite planet, and from there we could hit up Neptune which is my second. I think it would be such an amazing trip to take, the beauty of the galaxy and if I was going to take any animal it would be my best friend!

  9. Caitlin Kaspetrus says:

I forgot to say, dog toy! 🙂

  10. Nan Salsi says:

I’d bring my Maltese. He doesn’t know he’s a d-o-g. He just knows if momma needs help, he’s going to get it for her, even if he has to put on his big boy pants to do it. He made himself my therapy dog.

  11. Louise Haring says:

I would have to take my cats. I’ve had Jack since she was 12 days old, and she wants to be near her momma all the time. And Godzilla would be pissed if I had an adventure without her. She would love a space station.

  12. Debra Hall says:

i would bring my cat rebel with me

  13. Saskia says:

I will take my cat Pippa with me. So cat toy for me

  14. Deb Weaver says:

I would definitely take a dog into space with me. Probably a Golden Retriever, like our dear departed George W. Bush (the W was for Weaver), which was the smartest dog I ever owned. He was easy going, devoted, and loved to play with our cat.

I would want the dog toy. Thanks!

  15. Lola says:

I would take some pet rats into space. I used to have four pet rats and they are such great pets. And they are really smart too, so I am sure they would function well in space. And I would take multiple as rats can get lonely when alone so it’s best to have multiple :).

I would like to enter the giveaway for the cat toy so I can give it to my sister’s cat Miku. We don’t have pets ourself at the moment, so we like to gift my sister’s cat something when we visit.

  16. Teresa A. Hubbard says:

My Abbie was dumped out. She is a Shih Tzu. She is so sweet I can’t imagine just going off and leaving her. She sleeps with me and I can’t imagine life without Annie Annie. Dog toy.

  17. Linda Vedel says:

If stranded on an alien planet I would want a wolf hybrid with me for protection. also they are great hunters so would have food etc. on a strange planet. My sister had one show up at her place and he was docile and loving. Mellower than her dog. So a perfect companion on a brave new world.
    dog toy please.

  18. Linda Vedel says:

my sister had a wolf hybrid walk up to her on her property and he turned out to be more docile and lovable than her dog. I would want him to help me survive on an alien planet. I imagine he would be a great hunter and protector. Perfect for a brave new world.
    dog toy please

  19. Renee Brooks says:

I would take a kitty cat!

  20. KJ Van Houten says:

I’d take a dog! I’m very much a dog-lover. Guess that means I’ll want the dog toy! Dogs are such loving companions but also very protective. They can be goofy one minute and seriously on high alert the next. But if I take my Eskie, Ghost, I also have to take a cargo hold full of cheese, since he loves every kind of cheese more than any other treat!

  21. SuzyFren says:

I would take a my dog Bailey ❤️

  22. I would take all 3 of my Maltese with me. They would love it.

  23. Sheri Cordell says:

I would take a tiger with me. I love them and can you just imagine one chasing a ball in zero gravity!! The plus side is he would provide warmth on cold nights and protection against any nasty aliens I might run in to. They have such a regal, commanding, prescience so people/aliens would definitely know I mean business and not to take me lightly!!
I would love to have the bouncy cat toy. 🙂

  24. Jonella Moore says:

Definitively I would have to take my cats Rascal and Domino, because if I left them here they would plan domination of Earth!

  25. Kimberly Lloyd says:

I would definitely take my dog Lucky. He’d be able to help me scare of danger by barking and “looking “ like he wants to attack. He’s like another one of my sons. Thank you!
I would like the dog toy if I win

  26. Sandie Buckley says:

I would take my dogs with me, my chihuahua Vishous and Pekingese PJ. I’d love the dog toy please.

  27. Patty esack says:

My cats. I have 5 cats that I rescued from animal shelters when they were declared I adoptable. If I were to win I would like you to take either toy to you local animal shelter for the animals there.

  28. Mary Ann says:

A dog, definitely! Such wonderful companionship. I currently have the 2nd rescue dog I’ve adopted, although, who really adopted who? He was confiscated from his owner for abuse. I’ve had him for 15 months and the difference in his personality is such a joy. He feels free to express himself now and even though he is approximately nine, he is becoming more playful every day. Such a joy and a wonderful companion! I would definitely choose a dog toy for him! Thank you!

  29. Linda Szymoniak says:

Well, I’m both a dog person and a cat person, although I think my personality is more “dog” than cat. In most cases I would choose a dog first, but in outer space, actually think I’d pick a cat. They seem more adaptable and I think would do better in space. My furbabies are my world!

  30. Shoshonna Clemons says:

My dog Raven. She’s about to have puppies, so I gotta keep an eye on her.

  31. wendy duncan says:

I’d take my 2 cats Ivee and Harley with me. They are my babies. Where I go they go. My pick is the cat toy. wynde23 at yahoo dot com

  32. Kathy says:

    Cat toy, please.
I’m a dog person, but currently have a cat.
She thinks she’s a dog…fetches, eats bacon etc. Best of both pet worlds 🙂

  33. Lorena says:

I have always had cats and would definitely want one with me in space. We rescue each other. I adopt them from shelters or foster homes, and they help keep me calm and sane. And if I am having trouble sleeping, nothing like a purring cat cuddled up next to me to lull me into dreamland.

I would want the cat toy, of course!

  34. Karen says:

Seems like a ferret would be a great companion for space travel!

    Cat toy pls!

  35. Nina says:

I would definitely take my sweet white kitty Fluffy. She’s a great traveler and just loves cat toys. She’s driven all over the country with me. She sits on my left shoulder and looks out the driver door’s window. This always gets weird looks from passing cars.

  36. Nina Campbell says:

  37. Lisa says:

I would take both my dogs as I would always have them love me no matter what, and they give great cuddles

  38. Linda Romer says:

I would take my beautiful cat/best friend Ridley, my love as my companion in space! Cat toy! Thanks for the chance.
    isisthe12th(at)gmail(dot)com

  39. Jackie says:

I’d take my dog, Anubis he is a great cuddler. And also likes to play. He’s a Pharoah dog so he has these great big ears. They are so soft. That’s why he got named Anubis.
    So Dog toy, please.

  40. Margaret Bennett says:

I would like to take my cat, Alexei, with me. But he is adamantly opposed to all change. And things are all about change we leave the planet. So, I guess I would take a canary to make sure that wherever I end up, I can at least breathe the air. Cat toy, though, please.

  41. Sharon Extine says:

I would take my dog Lizzie. She’s great company.

  42. Liza O'Connor says:

I would take a mainecoon kitten.
