Book review: Monogamy Sucks by George Pappas

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on inside the male head — the big one and the little one — Monogamy Sucks gives you an up close and personal peek inside. This erotica novel, written by George Pappas, is the male’s version of Sex in the City, only with the quest being sex and not attachment and the city being Los Angeles and not New York. It’s a novel about the lengths one man will go to get a little.

The main character, Jake Dalmas, decides he’s fed up with restrictive monogamous relationships. He wants sexual variety and lots of it, but he doesn’t want to lie, cheat, or pay for it to get it. Thus he embarks on a sexual adventure involving swing clubs, the Internet and personal ad hook-ups.

Monogamy Sucks is a frank and graphic, and frequently humorous, look at one man’s sexual exploration and quest. Overall I found it fascinating and compelling, sometimes laugh-aloud funny and other times a little poignant and sad.

As an erotic romance author, I also write about sex in graphic, frank way; however this book is about 180 degrees from your typical erotic romance. We’re talking apples and oranges, Martian and Venusians.

If you want to know what and how men really think…read this book.

On Tuesday, July 5, I’ll be interviewing author George Pappas on Romance Writers Behaving Badly. He has interesting things to say. Please drop by!
