Favorite lines: from Don’t Call Me Angel

Favorite lines is a series in which I share my favorite quotes from books I’m reading. These are passages that made me laugh, that struck me as profound, that moved me in some way. Today’s post is from a wonderfully disturbing or disturbingly wonderful novel by Cara McKenna called Don’t Call me Angel.

“Em, don’t you ever take no wrong steps. Town like this, stains don’t ever wash out, and everybody’s dyin to make it known that their linens are whiter than yours.”
