In this scene from Reasonable Doubts, a Rod and Cane Society spanking romance, widow Liz Davenport has begun to date. She and her new man have reached the point where they are going to sleep together. She hasn’t yet told him that what she really wants is to be spanked…. (We’re in Grant’s point of view)…
They rode the elevator to his floor in silence. Liz focused on the lighted panel; Grant concentrated on her. A becoming flush stained her cheeks, and she parted her lips, breathing through her mouth as if she needed the extra oxygen. The rapid rise and fall of her chest drew his attention to the tight material of her tank, tented by hard nipples. Soon, he’d be able to have her naked, the way he’d imagined. She’d be satin and silk against his body. Soft and warm.
Maybe. If she didn’t back out again. “Are you sure you okay with this?” he asked. Say yes. He’d tried to be gallant, chivalrous, but, damn, he desired this woman. He’d lugged a length of wood around all evening. Through all three of their dates.
She shook her head. “But I want to do it anyway.”
It was as close to a yes as a no could get. Grant took her hand. She squeezed. Her bones felt delicate, her skin smooth and cool. “Are you one of those women who is always cold?”
“’Fraid so,” she said. “My fingers are like Popsicles in winter.”
The elevator jerked to a stop, and the doors opened. Still holding her hand, he urged her out.
Inside his condo, he flipped on the switch in the foyer then led her to the sunken living room. He grabbed a remote from the coffee table and punched a couple of the buttons. The overhead lights dimmed, the gas log flamed, and long drapes peeled back to reveal the city’s sparkling night skyline. Atmosphere.
“Too cheesy?” He cocked his head. “Or not enough?” He punched another button and a low, jazzy tune floated into the room.
She glided over to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. He noticed her hands had warmed. A kiss brushed his lips. “Thank you for making me laugh.”
He splayed his hands over her ass. Perfect fit. He urged her to press her pelvis against his erection. “Laughter wasn’t quite the effect I was going for.” But he’d take anything that put her at ease. Put her in his arms. In his bed.
Grant kissed her, exploring her mouth, stroking and caressing. He slid one palm from her ass to her breast and covered the mound, stroked its hard tip with his thumb. Liz emitted a tiny moan and rubbed his cock. He took it as a green light. All systems go.
He kissed her eyelids and her temple before nibbling his way down her neck. Roses. He sniffed. She smelled like roses. And…honey? The juncture between her neck and shoulder demanded a kiss, and he brushed his mouth there. Yes, honey.
“Would you like a glass of wine?” he murmured.
Liz shook her head.
“Tea?” He held his breath.
“Good. I don’t think I have any wine, and I might be out of tea, too.”
She laughed. “What do you have?”
He lifted his head and waggled his eyebrows in an exaggerated leer.
“That will do.” She smiled.
He kissed her harder this time, expressing a measure of his pent-up desire, then stepped back. Her lips were pink, swollen. “Let’s go into the bedroom. That way.” He pointed and lightly smacked her ass.
Liz sucked in her breath in an audible gasp.
Had he hit her too hard? He thought he’d only tapped her. “Did I hurt you?”
Eyes wide, she shook her head. She wet her lips. “No. I liked it.”
“That?” He swatted her twice. “Get a move on then.”
A teasing look appeared on her face, and she scurried across the living room with Grant at her heels. In the bedroom, he lit the tray ceiling. Liz’s gaze skipped between him and the king-size bed.
“Still nervous?” he asked.
“A little,” she admitted.
He toyed with her thick, lustrous hair. “Me, too,” he said.
“Why are you nervous?”
“We haven’t been together this way before. What if the hydraulic equipment fails? Or what if I drop my pants and you run screaming from the room? Or—worse—what if you laugh?”
She shook her head. “Never would happen.” Liz smoothed her palm over his zipper. His cock strained against the fabric,.
Still maintaining eye contact, Grant shrugged out of his jacket and tossed it in the general direction of the padded bench at the foot of his bed. He didn’t bother to see if it landed on the seat or not. He removed his shirt.
“Okay, your turn.” Grant tugged her tank over her head, then unhooked her bra to release her pert breasts, the nipples like hard berries. Irresistible. He dipped his head and captured one in his mouth. She gasped and threaded her fingers through his hair. He laved the nipple, enjoying the hardness and how she pressed herself more firmly into his mouth.
A concerned lover didn’t play favorites, so the other nipple received equal time. When it grew as hard as the first, he raised his head and hauled Liz to his chest.
The softness of her skin compelled him to plant a hard kiss to her mouth, before returning to the important task of disrobing. He nearly fell over when he toed off his shoes, but she grabbed his arm and steadied him.
“Thanks,” he said.
“I’d hate for you to gash your head on the bedpost. That could spoil the moment.”
“The way I feel now, I could make it work anyway.”
“You’re a trouper.”
He unzipped his pants. She didn’t hesitate this time and undid hers, shimmying out of them with the cutest wiggle. Her breasts bounced. She kicked off her sandals.
His shorts joined the pile on the floor. Her eyes flashed with appreciation and heat, and he felt ridiculously proud. But humbled, too. Only her bikini panties remained. Tiny lacy red ones. He arched his eyebrows, and she flushed then hooked her thumbs into them and pulled them down her legs. Neatly trimmed curls covered her mound.
“I knew you’d look this way without your clothes.”
She hesitated. “What way is that?”
“Naked,” he answered.
She laughed and shook her head. “You’re silly.”
She meandered her gaze over his body in a palpable sweep before focusing on his cock. It basked in her attention, drooling happily.
He following her to the bed, getting a good view of her nude backside. He’d never been as ass man, but damn if she didn’t have a fine one, tight and rounded. He slapped it. “I have the strangest urge to spank you right now,” he teased.
In the process of climbing onto the mattress, Liz froze. She peered back at him. The sizzling heat in her eyes shot straight to his cock. Fuck. Another look like that, and he could embarrass himself. “Do it,” she dared him. “Spank me.”
He’d hadn’t meant it, but now she’d challenged him. “Have you been a bad girl?” he asked with mock sternness.
“Very bad.” She almost purred.
He plopped his ass on the bed’s edge. He patted his lap. “Over here then.”
Before he could blink, a warm woman draped across his thighs. Openhanded, he smacked her buttock. Crack! He and Liz both flinched. A red handprint appeared on her ass.
“Shit! I’m sorry.” He expected her to spring off his lap.
She bumped his erection. “No, it was good.”
Good? How could it be good? From the sound, the mark, the way she’d jerked, he’d hurt her. He didn’t know his own strength. “This is a bad idea.” To his relief, the imprint of his hand was receding.
She squirmed. “It’s okay. Please, don’t stop.”
He cupped his hand this time and pulled back on his swing. He scarcely tapped her, loath to hurt her. Liz raised her bottom as if trying to meet his palm.
Despite his best efforts not to leave a mark, her skin blushed pink. The oddest sort of desire rippled through him, leaving a wake of guilt. What sort of man enjoyed hitting women? Who got off on whaling on her ass? On the sight of reddened skin?
