Guest blog: Ashe Barker on FAITH, her new BDSM romance

faithBy Ashe Barker

Thanks for inviting me over here today, Cara. I’m loving getting out and about chatting about Faith, my latest release and my first book to be published with Stormy Night. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, but fabulous so far.

Faith goes on general release this week, and you’ll be able to grab a copy from:

Amazon.com

Faith and Ewan are next-door neighbours, though they don’t really know each other. Ewan is away a lot for his work, Faith is newly-married and busy with her job, her husband, her garden. She might be quietly attracted to the gorgeous man living next door but nothing will ever come of it. His live-in submissive is Faith’s friend, and despite her curiosity about their lifestyle Faith can’t quite bring herself to accept the occasional screams she can hear through the bedroom wall, or the bruising on her friend’s body.

Some men are just too dangerous to know.

But life is rarely tidy, and when the pair are thrown together through a tragic twist of fate matters take a new and unexpected turn. Their relationship blossoms. Faith is lonely, confused, but hopelessly drawn to Ewan despite her reservations about his kinky lifestyle. It’s only a matter of time before the urge to experiment overwhelms her.

Here’s the blurb…

After her husband’s sudden, tragic death, Faith is left widowed after only six months of marriage. She wallows in grief until a neighbour, Ewan, reaches out to her. Although his work takes him away a great deal, Ewan slowly becomes Faith’s rock, helping her heal and encouraging her as she struggles to rebuild her life. As time passes, Faith grows more and more attracted to Ewan, but one thing holds her back: Ewan is a dom, and she is not ready to be a sub.

Though the idea of kneeling naked at Ewan’s feet excites her in a way she can’t fully understand, Faith fears that his sexual appetites would prove too much for her. But when he discovers that she has been exploring the lifestyle without his knowledge and hiding her activities from him, Ewan issues an ultimatum: either she becomes his submissive, or they go their separate ways. This is just the push Faith needs, and in the end her decision is not a difficult one.

Ewan quickly proves to be a firm, commanding lover who is more than capable of mastering her completely. He challenges Faith’s boundaries and introduces her to a level of sensuality she never dreamed she could experience, and Faith soon finds herself at peace in a way she has not felt in years. But when fate takes another turn and she learns the truth about her husband’s death, can Faith count on Ewan to be by her side as she adjusts to a new reality yet again?

 An excerpt from Faith

“Could you love a submissive?”

“I do love a submissive. I thought I made that plain too. Even if that submissive is slow on the uptake and not quite ready yet to accept the truth of her nature. And mine.”

I’m trying not to be side-tracked, but I can’t suppress my smile. I continue. “This can’t be casual for me. If we do this…”

“When we do this.” He corrects me, his tone gentle but definite. “You brought the cuffs and the crop. I intend to make use of them.”

faith“…when we do this, it makes our relationship even more—intimate. Even more personal than before. Does that make sense?”

“It makes perfect sense.”

He pushes himself to his feet and steps forward. Standing before me, he grasps a handful of my hair and tilts my head back. He doesn’t pull quite hard enough to hurt, but I know I shouldn’t resist. His face is inches from mine, the deep brown of his eyes gleaming. I’m mesmerised, could not look away if I wanted to. His expression is stern, intense, and utterly sexy. My stomach is doing cartwheels and my knickers are disgracefully wet too. I open my mouth to speak, but he stops me with one arched eyebrow. It seems he has more to say.

“I made my terms clear earlier. I want you as my submissive. I’ll teach you, train you. I’ll help you. I’ll take care of you. You’ll come to no harm with me. For my part I expect you to obey me, to be honest with me, always. I demand respect and courtesy, and you can expect the same from me. I’ll make the rules, we’ll discuss them, but once you accept there’s no going back. I will enforce those rules, and I’ll punish you when I need to. That discipline will be physical, and it will hurt. So, those are my terms. What are yours?”

I hold his gaze as his grip tightens in my hair. I draw in a sharp breath, but he doesn’t let up. Neither does he rush me. I have time to consider my answer.

“Do you love me?”

“Yes.”

“Will you be kind to me?”

“Of course.” He narrows his eyes, his expression warming marginally.

“And gentle?”

His jaw flexes, and those gorgeous chocolate-coloured eyes gleam, like hard, polished mahogany. He cups my chin in his free hand. His fingertips trace a light pattern across my cheek. “I’ll never treat you roughly. I’ll never push you around or use any form of force. And I’ll never do anything to you without your consent. Will that do?”
