An interview with Katherine Deane about Cassie and the Fire Captain #spanking

cassie and the fire captain KD coverI’m sure there’s all kinds of fire heating up in author Katherine Deane’s new spanking romance, Cassie the Fire Captain. I have the pleasure of interviewing her about new release.

Cara Bristol:  What was the inspiration behind Cassie and the Fire Captain?

Katherine Deane: Hehe, besides the fact that I really think firemen are hot?  I actually started this book several years ago. It was one of those fun stories that I tried out just to get my feet wet. I liked the idea of a small town girl who gets in trouble, and wants to be held accountable- even though she doesn’t know it. And I love firemen.

Cara Bristol: Swearing by the heroine is a spankable offense in many spanking romances. Why is that?

Katherine Deane: Hmmm, well, in the books I Iike to read, the hero always wants the heroine to function at her best. So not getting drunk and out of control, not driving unsafely, and not swearing, always seem to be at the top of the list. Eric even explains that Cassie is so intelligent and creative; using swear words diminish her respectability. Coming from any other man, this would be offensive and pushy. But since Cassie respects Eric’s opinion, and desperately want to be seen as a value to her community, his words sink in.

Cara Bristol: You say that Cassie is a prankster? What kinds of pranks has she played on the town?

Katherine Deane: Oh my goodness, what pranks hasn’t she pulled, LOL? She has faked alien sightings, pretended the Mayor’s wife was naked, and in one scene, she played such a funny prank on a pushy telemarketer, Eric giggled like a girl. I did too. She’s a riot!

Cara Bristol: Do you like to play pranks? Please tell us one!

Katherine Deane: I love pranks. I just wish I could pull them off more often. Not only am I not good at surprises (I have a horrible poker face), I also always get caught. 🙁 But one time, early in our relationship, I did lock the front door for a few seconds when my soon to be husband went outside to grab the newspaper in his underwear. LOL, thank goodness we were not in a spanking relationship at the time. He didn’t think it was funny. I about died laughing. 🙂

Cara Bristol: How would you describe Cassie and the Fire Captain?

Katherine Deane: Well, it’s funny and entertaining and sweet, but it also has some pretty sexy scenes as well. There’s even a fireman calendar photo shoot. 😉

Cara Bristol: What’s next for Katherine Deane?

Katherine Deane: Right now, I’m working on two different stories. One is a paranormal romance- lots of spankings and lots of action! And the other is a contemporary erotic romance. They are both proving to be pretty interesting. I can’t say anything more than that, seriously, or I’ll jinx myself. 😉

Cara Bristol: Quick five…

Your favorite color: LOL, it depends on the mood I’m in!

A celebrity you’d like to meet: I would love to meet Kresley Cole!

Your favorite subject in school: PE (Physical Education)

If you were stranded on a desert island, what one basic necessity and one luxury would you want to have: hunting knife and my fully loaded Kindle (It holds a charge for a week. So I would get a lot of books read, and just write my reviews with a piece of bark on a cave wall 🙂

The last book you read was: Rapture (Fallen Angels) by JR Ward

Cassie and the Fire Captain  blurb

When twenty-four-year-old Cassie Stevens meets Eric Waters, her town’s hunky new fire captain, she assumes he is way out of her league. Cassie isn’t a beauty queen like her mother, and a mature, no-nonsense man like Eric would never be attracted to a fun-loving tomboy like her, especially considering her penchant for getting herself in trouble. So it comes as a shock when he stops by the diner where she works, steers her out of an altercation with some rude customers, and promptly asks her out on a date.

It doesn’t take Cassie long to realize that she has finally met the man of her dreams, and Eric seems to enjoy her sense of humor and playful ways. But after she pulls a foolish prank on him during their first date, he takes her over his knee for a spanking, and she quickly discovers how much a man’s firm hand can sting when applied to a naughty girl’s bare bottom.

Eric’s attention and affection make Cassie feel more loved than she has ever felt before, and despite her sore bottom, his discipline leaves her aroused and yearning to be his. But just as she’s about to give him her heart, it seems he’s no longer interested. Can Cassie put aside her fears and trust Eric, or will her doubts set off a chain of events which will tear their relationship apart?

Publisher’s Note: Cassie and the Fire Captain is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Since you asked about the pranks, Cara, I am including one of Cassie’s latest pranks. In this scene, Cassie is getting back at the whole Elkin fire department in honor of her best friend, Paige. Cheating boyfriends and firemen, beware…

Loading her arms with a huge handful of condoms, blown up into assorted animal shapes, Cassie turned to place some on the outer mirrors and the hoses.

A loud sound of a throat clearing behind her, halted her movements.

Turning with the leftover rubber piece in her arms, she turned to see the stern faces of five, rather large firemen.

“Hey, Cass, do you think we should draw a small penis on this one, and call it L—“ Paige stopped her comment, and froze in place, her face blanching. “J?” She reddened when she looked up into the eyes of her very angry boyfriend.

Several of the firefighters grinned from ear to ear at the prank, especially when they saw the huge sign with the anatomically incorrect drawing underneath it.

“Care to tell us what you’re up to, young ladies?” Eric’s disapproving voice rumbled from the side of the station, before the lights turned on.

She winced as the brightness over stimulated her senses. “Um, um, well…” her face heated at being caught red-handed. She looked down at the armful she carried. “They were having a sale at Walmart.” She swallowed nervously and grinned up at the other firemen who were trying hard not to smile. “Anyone want one? You can never be too safe these days.”
