#8Sunday: The lovers finally meet….from Claimed by the Cyborg

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors in which authors share short excerpts from one of their books. I’m presenting Claimed by the Cyborg, my newest sci-fi romance. If you’ve been following along, you know that hero March is a cyborg who has been searching for the woman he loved and lost. When he finds her, it’s on the eve of her “bonding” to another man.

March finally confronts her face-to-face in her private quarters…

“I said I was not to be disturb—”

“Hello…Julietta,” March said.

Time and distance vanished so that only she and he existed. The air thickened, weighing heavily on her body as if it would drag her down even as lightness filled her head. For years, he’d existed as a memory she’d kept alive with longing and dreams. He stood here in the flesh, solid and real. He had changed, but she’d have recognized him anywhere. Despair mingled with joy to be inseparable. Her body swayed toward him, but she caught herself, and marshaled her training and heritage to keep from flinging herself into his arms and weeping. “What are you doing here?”

Claimed by the Cyborg Description

March Fellows assumed he had all the time in the galaxy to pursue a relationship with Jules, an alien exchange student from Xenia, until she vanished without a trace. After years of searching, he finds his lost love on the eve of her arranged marriage.

The daughter of the Xenian emperor, Julietta never meant to fall in love with a Terran man while visiting Earth. Leaving to fulfill her responsibilities on her home planet opened up a hole in her heart that could never be filled. When March, now a cyborg, unexpectedly shows up just before she is to be bonded, she struggles to find the courage to turn him away a second time and follow through with her duty. Before she can act, the lovers are thrust into a political conspiracy that threatens the Xenian empire and their lives.
