In August a friend and I went to a weekend adult Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala. Space Camp is part science lab, part “summer camp,” part museum, and a little bit of an amusement park. It’s very hands-on; they keep you busy all day. We were on the go from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
Among the activities, we:
Experienced the disorientation of the Multi-Axis Trainer (You can watch a video of me on the trainer on Facebook or Instagram)
Experienced 1/6 gravity of the moon
Listened to presentations from astronauts and others in the space program
Built a heat shield (to protect an egg from a blow torch)
Built rockets from kits and shot them off
Participated in role play missions as astronauts, scientists and mission control personnel
Visited on site museums
Took a virtual reality trip to the moon!
Engaged in leadership “team building” exercises.
I hope you enjoy some of these photos. Some are mine, most were taken by Lisa Medley, my friend and Space Camp buddy.
You really should check out the short Multi-Axis Training video on Facebook or Instagram. It was a kick in the butt! Turn the sound up so you can hear me scream.
