More domestic discipline milestones’ in my life…

I predict more plate-spinning in my near future.

“Plate-spinning” is how I describe the “normal” busy life of an author. I draw the metaphor from the old Ed Sullivan Show, which had featured entertainers who spun plates on multiple poles and had to run from one to other to keep them all in motion. Spinning plates is how it feels when I’m juggling multiple projects. (Plate-spinning post here).

Recently, I signed a contract with LazyDay Publishing for Milestones, another domestic discipline anthology with my fellow co-authors of Coming to Terms: Jade Cary, Anastasia Vitsky, Sue Lyndon, Celeste Jones, Renee Rose and Alta Hensley. Life milestones will be the unifying theme around which the domestic discipline stories will be centered. The submission deadline is October 1. I do not know what my story will be, although I am envisioning a war veteran hero.

Right now, I am wrapping up Breeder, my science fiction erotic romance:

Dak and Omra belong to an alien humanoid aggressive race who live on the “androcentric, androsocial” planet Parseon where male domination is enforced by law. This “Protocol” separates the Parseon race into castes. The five Alpha Commanders rule at the top. Beneath them are the alphas, the males deemed dominant, and below them, are the betas, males who serve as the submissive domestic partners to the alphas. Only alphas may pass on their genetic material by bearing offspring. Females are slaves relegated to breeding and ancillary sexual outlets.

Alpha Commander Dak needs a son. He purchases a breeder named Omra with the intention of impregnating her and then handing her off to his beta Corren. Only Corren hates her. And Dak falls in love with her and begins to question everything he was taught, jeopardizing not only his anointed union with Corren, but all of Parseon.

Breeder is 60K words and the first draft is done; I am now in revision mode and intend to have Breeder fully polished by the beginning of August. It is different from anything I’ve written, and it is very important to me that it find the right publishing home. (BTW, Breeder does contain domestic discipline spanking).

And Rod and Cane Society 5, Liz Davenport’s story, still needs to be written.

I suspect that at least two of these three stories will enter into editing and will be released at the same time. I know from having three releases in the month of May (Coming to Terms, Disciplinary Measures and Destiny’s Chance) that having multiple simultaneous releases are not optimal for promotion or sanity. Other authors–some with day jobs and/or children at home–are far more prolific than I am, but my plates are as full as I can handle.

I am grateful for the publishing opportunities, that the ideas keep flowing, that my readership is growing. I LOVE my job.

  1. I agree about the simultaneous releases. I *never* want to do that again. I think it actually hurt my sales.

You’re doing fine – everybody writes at their own pace. You have a dedicated fan base that will wait for anything you release. 🙂

  2. It’s a happy sort of craziness, isn’t it, though it is often a trick to balance the happiness w/the craziness.

I am very excited about the Liz Davenport story and even though my prior suggestions weren’t great, I still have some good ideas. I know you’re excited. 🙂
