#ReadersParlor: An an interview with Gill Kerry from the other side of the pond #UK

Reader’s Parlor is a weekly feature in which I interview readers! Today’s guest is Gill Kerry, a reader from the UK. So I guess I should call this Reader’s Parlour.

Cara: What do you like to read?

Gill: I read lots of genres, sci fi, historical fiction, military, erotica, lgbtq, paranormal, vampire, scandi noir, mostly novellas or short books. I’ve recently got into cyborgs courtesy of yourself and Cynthia Sax. Think the longest book I’ve read is child of the Phoenix by Barbara Erskine. Also I tend only to read female authors.

Cara: Why do you you like to read?

Gill: I’ve always read. Books, newspapers and now blogs. It let’s you explore ideas

Cara: What are your book likes and pet peeves?

Gill: Like HEAs or HFN’s. Not a peeve as such, but can’t get my head round mpregs, or extreme shifters. Or secret babies. Not keen on inspirational titles either.

Cara: How do you find books to read?

Gill: New books usually from recs on Amazon, or maybe a short stories book. For example, I found you from Pets in Space. I’m a long time fan of Susan Grant and bought Pisa 1 (Pets in Space 1) because of her story. That led me to you, and others in SciFi.

Cara: When you’re not reading, what do like to do?

Gill: I’m a real ale fan, so you can find me in my local a couple of times a week. Plus I visit Benidorm. Also watch SciFi on TV, Dr Who etc. Oh and I love cats, but not currently owned by one!

Cara: How many books are on your To be Read list?

Gill: Over 100 in my Kindle collection “to read” but the next 5 are:

  • Emerald Lily by Juliette Cross. Fairy tales and vampires. What’s not to like
  • Claimed in Shadows by Lara Adrian. Love how she’s kept this series fresh
  • Dark in Death by JD Robb. Love everything by this author
  • Fallout by Sara Paretsky
  • Judgement Road by Christine Feehan

Ebook, print or audiobook: E book. It’s cheaper, mostly

Your favorite place to read: On the beach in Benidorm

Number of books you read in a year: 120 including short stories

A favorite childhood book: Peter Pan

A favorite romance trope: Fairy tale retold (currently!)

  1. Gill, I just re-read Naked in Death for the umpteenth time. I love Roarke and Dallas. It was such a treat seeing the alliances begin. I promised to loan it to a friend but couldn’t part with it until I’d read it once more. I haven’t read the newest one yet but want it. I bet you like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JD Ward too.

  2. Tasha Black says:

Great interview! Thank you for supporting female authors, Gill! 🙂

  3. Susan Grant says:

Hi Gill! I know we’ve been in contact for years but what a joy to learn so much more about you! Now I’ll always picture you reading books on the beach in sunny Spain. That’s great you discovered new authors (like Cara!!) from the Pets in Space books. Cara, you do the best blogs!

  4. Gill says:

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. I’ve not read the Black dagger books. I’ve got the first one on my kindle though.
