#Spanking: how the Rod and Cane domestic discipline series started…

Naive bride marries a man who spanks & discovers the secrets of the Rod and Cane Society.

How did I get the idea for the Rod and Cane Society domestic discipline series? Well, spankos in the blogosphere inspired me.

It was 2010, and I’d written Intimate Submission and Secret Desires, two short erotic romances with spanking for the Black Velvet Seductions Spanked! anthology. I had started a WordPress blog, but was getting very little traffic. Then one day at 9 a.m., I’d already had more hits than I usually got in an entire day. By evening, I had more hits than I usually received in a week.

Bonnie of My Bottom Smarts had listed my blog as being spanking oriented. That blog changed my career!

I was so stoked, a light bulb clicked on in my brain and I got a story idea about a naive, somewhat spoiled bride who marries a man who belongs to a secret society that practices domestic discipline.

Here’s the blurb:

Jared belongs to the Rod and Cane Society, a secret organization of men who spank their wives to maintain domestic discipline. When Melania ignores a “request” from her husband and attempts to hide her disobedience, Jared spanks her.

While Jared believes the unpleasantness has been settled, for Melania it only has begun. Although she consented to the spanking, her fairytale notion of marriage has been shattered and she makes plans to leave Jared as soon as her parents return from vacation.

While she waits, Melania begins to see more positive aspects of domestic discipline. But just as she decides her love for Jared is paramount and she might be able to accept a domestic discipline marriage, Jared discovers she’d planned to leave him and once again her marriage is in jeopardy.

The idea behind the concept was that the society afforded closeted spankos an environment in which they could be open about TTWD and receive support and encouragement. The original title was “Spanking Melania” and writing it was pure magic; I produced the first draft in 13 days. As it developed, I realized it had series potential — each book could be centered around a different Society member.

It took a while to settle with the right publisher, so it wasn’t until September 2011 that Unexpected Consequences was published by Loose Id. False Pretenses followed in June 2012, Body Politics in January 2013, and this week, Disciplinary Measures. All the Rod and Cane books are written so that they can be read as stand-alones. You do not need to read them in order, but if you do, you will note growth and change in the Society itself.

In conjunction with the release of Disciplinary Measures, Unexpected Consequences is 1/3 off on Loose Id  this week only. It normally retails for $5.99 (is $5.49 on Amazon), and Loose Id is offering it for $3.99 until May 26.

If you’re curious about the Rod and Cane Society series, this is the time to buy the first book. Unexpected Consequences has never been this inexpensive.

And by way, Disciplinary Measures is free on Loose Id site until May 26. Grab that one while you can. None of my books have been offered for free before. After May 26, the price will be $2.99.

Disciplinary Measures on Loose Id

Married for just three years, Linc Ellison has reached his wit’s end. His wife’s overspending threatens to drive them into the poorhouse. But more than that, he doesn’t feel he can trust Regina because of her string of broken promises. When he learns about the Rod and Cane Society, a secret organization of men who spank their wives, he decides to implement some disciplinary measures to save his marriage.

Sure Regina shops a lot. And she’s broken some promises. But she’s trying to do better. What hurts most is that Linc no longer trusts her. So she consents to try domestic discipline.

Neither is prepared for the ripple effect the disciplinary measures will have on their love life.
